In the early 1980s, the idea for a "Hall of Honor" came up at a CHS parent meeting. The Class of 1963 provided seed money to establish the Hall in 1989. DHS/CHS graduates and school personnel serve on the Board of Directors. In 1989 the first honorees were inducted.
The Hall of Honor is funded privately. Donations have been received from class reunion committees, individuals, community organizations, and businesses.
Anyone may nominate a graduate of Davenport or Central High School for this honor. Forms are available at the high school office and online. Nominees must have achieved distinction in their careers and/or through public/community service. They may be seen as admirable role models, especially for students.
Nominees must be individuals who have achieved distinction in areas such as profession, public or community services, while having a positive influence on the lives of others. They must be graduates of Davenport High School or Central High School at least 10 years prior to the year of nomination.
